About Dr. Monti
Hello, I'm Dr. Monti.
I write the Time Tamers books, a series of picture books about the small moments that can feel very big to a young child: getting through the morning, waiting for something good, saving a treat for later, finishing one step before starting the next.
The stories are inspired by Montessori ideas: order, independence, and learning by doing. Each book gives children a few simple words to hold on to, like "First, Next, Then, Last" or "We can wait", and gives grown-ups a few easy ideas to try at home.
I'm not trying to make waiting disappear. Waiting is part of life, and it's hard for little ones. The hope is that a friendly fox, a hungry bear or a busy octopus can make it a bit easier to talk about, and a bit easier to practice together.
The friends you'll meet
- Fennel the fox, who follows his Morning Map
- Bumble the bear, who bakes and waits
- Pippa the Pocket Bird, who saves her snack for later
- Ollie the octopus, who breaks big jobs into little ones
- Luna the unicorn and Chip the chipmunk, who walk a path of checkpoints
- And all six together, in The Festival Countdown Team
If you'd like a simple place to start, the books are a nice first step.
Warmly,
Dr. Monti
